Others are inherited.

Hartcliff Homes began on the Wollongong coastline, beneath the escarpment and within sight of the Pacific. It was founded by Evelyn Hartley’s grandfather with a simple belief: property was never only about property. It was about people, place and what came next.

The Hartley name gave the agency its heart. The cliffs of the Illawarra gave it its sense of place. Together, they became Hartcliff.

In its coastal years, Hartcliff carried a blue-and-white identity inspired by the ocean and the Illawarra coastline. It belonged to the original agency: local, familiar and unmistakably coastal.

When Hartcliff entered the Sydney market, the business had grown beyond its first office. The branding grew with it. Blue gave way to black and white: sharper, more architectural and better suited to the agency Hartcliff had become, while the name continued to carry the place it came from.

What started as a local family business grew north with the next generation, carrying its coastal roots into Sydney without leaving them behind.

From coast to city

A reputation built slowly. A city reached deliberately.

The first Hartcliff office was small enough that every client was known by name. As the business evolved, so did the addresses.

From family homes along the coast to tightly held Sydney streets, Hartcliff’s approach remained personal: know the property, know the market and, above all, know who you are representing.

The rebrand wasn't a rejection of Hartcliff's past. It was a sign that the family business had reached its next chapter. The coastline remained in the name. Sydney changed how the name was presented.
